On 18 November was given in Blankenburg the starting signal for the last 10 months of preparation for orienteering events by (LTR) Göran Wendler (SV Wissenschaft Quedlinburg), Heiko Breithaupt (Mayor of Blankenburg), Wolfgang Krause (SV Wissenschaft Quedlinburg) and Gert Schmidtko (USC Magdeburg).
